Issue: Need to deactivate license, back up data, and install PAVER software on a new machine.
Resolution: Follow steps to deactivate the license, back up and transfer data, and install PAVER on the new computer.
Steps to Resolve:
✅ Step 1: Deactivate License
If You Have Access to the Original Computer:
- Open PAVER on the computer where the license is activated.
- Navigate to the License Management or Activation section (usually in Settings or Help menu).
- Select Deactivate License or Release License, then follow prompts to confirm.
- Ensure you are connected to the internet for deactivation to communicate with the licensing server.
If You Don’t Have Access to the Original Computer:
- Contact PAVER Support for assistance.
- For non-government users: Contact the Software Distribution Center or PAVER support via Colorado State University (http://www.paver.colostate.edu).
✅ Step 2: Back Up PAVER Data
- Copy database files (e.g., .e70 files) to an external USB drive or cloud storage (OneDrive, Google Drive).
- Export critical data from PAVER using File → Export (Excel or CSV backups recommended).
✅ Step 3: Import PAVER Data
- Transfer saved data from the old machine and paste directly into the C:\ drive.
✅ Step 4: Install PAVER Software
- Run the installer located at: \pa-files\IT Files\Software Installers\PAVER.
- Activate the license using the serial number found in the same folder as the installer.
- Open PAVER and go to Database Settings or Open Database.
- Point PAVER to the copied database files in the new folder.
- Test PAVER functionality to confirm successful installation.
Expected Outcome: PAVER is installed and operational on the new machine with all data restored.
